Locals get free entry to world-renowned Judy Garland Museum®

People from far and wide come annually to visit the Judy Garland Museum® in Grand Rapids, Minn.
Yet, the museum hears often from local people that they have never been to the tourist attraction to see the childhood home of the Hollywood icon and all the fascinating memorabilia from “The Wizard of Oz” and Judy’s life.
Therefore, from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend, Minnesota’s Itasca County residents and Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Members ages 16 and up can visit the Judy Garland Museum® for FREE (with ID)! It’s a great chance to discover the beloved space that has captivated out-of-towners for more than a half-century.

Visiting the Children’s Discovery Museum at the Judy Garland Museum®

The Judy Garland Museum® is in the same building as the Children’s Discovery Museum, a hands-on indoor play space with interactive exhibits including a fishing pier, stage, wind tunnel, water tables, art room, talking tree, kid-sized credit union and a tiny town with a “Wizard of Oz” theme. The exhibits emphasize education in science, arts and humanities. There’s also a museum store full of unique gifts and souvenirs.
Free admission
for Itasca County residents and Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Members ages 16 and up does not include the Children’s Discovery Museum.
Together, the Judy Garland Museum® and the Children’s Discovery Museum make a delightful day of exploration for guests of all ages. Kids love getting their wiggles out in the children’s museum, while adults enjoy reminiscing about their own childhood through the nostalgic memories that come to mind at the Judy Garland Museum®. It’s fun for guests of different generations to encounter period artifacts in Judy’s childhood home such as an old telephone and typewriter because many younger visitors have never seen anything like them.
