Childhood Home

Tour the childhood home of Judy Garland, who was born Frances Gumm on June 10, 1922, in Grand Rapids, Minn. Originally built in 1892, the home has been restored to how it look when Judy lived there during the first few happy years of her life. You can go on a self-guided tour or opt for a guided experience with 40-year museum expert, John Kelsch, and get the full Judy tour that includes the gallery, house and special archives focusing on her early years in Grand Rapids, Minn.

Oz Memorabilia

Encounter memorabilia from Judy’s time in show business including photos, promotional materials from the movies she starred in and clothing from her personal collection. Artifacts from “The Wizard of Oz” include a test dress, a Winkie Guard spear from the Witches Castle and the original Emerald City carriage from Oz.

Discover the Story

Explore an exhibit about the stolen ruby slippers that Judy wore in “The Wizard of Oz.” The slippers were on exhibit at the Judy Garland Museum® in 2005 when they were taken in the middle of the night. After recovering the slippers in a sting operation in Minneapolis in 2018, the original shoe owner sold them at auction for $28 million in 2024! The exhibit features artifacts including the pedestal from which they were taken and signs made by locals during the subsequent search. You can even take a Ruby Slipper Theft Guided Tour!
